The Essentials for an Effective Translation of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

In order to make an effective translation for The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, the screen writer must stay, for the most part, true to the book. He must incorporate the same main ideas and plot as well as the same main characters that made the book so entertaining. Also, the same messages, such as good prevailing over evil, should be highlighted in the movie as much as they were in the book. In order to make the film appealing to children and also adults, the director must incorporate the make believe, fantasy aspects of the book that would appeal to children in addition to intense and exciting battle scenes that would draw in a more adult audience.

Great Expectations

I really enjoyed the radical translation of Great Expectations. I thought it was an entertaining movie. I liked the fact that the director was able to stayed true to the text for the most part while making it more modern. I like how he made the setting in America instead of England and that it took place in the '80s and '90s. I also think that he choose talented actors that depicted the characters in the novel well. If i could say one bad thing about it it would be with the convict. In the book Magwitch was a main character, but i felt in the movie he wasn't a big deal. I would have liked to see a bigger role for him in the film. I would recommend this movie.

Translations

I think that translating a book to a movie is a very difficult task. The director needs to make sure he stays somewhat true to the original text, but he must also add interesting aspects to make his movie entertaing and enjoyable. It is a tricky thing to do because if they change it too much it is too extreme and there are too much changes and if they don't change it enough it is not original and may even be considered boring. A director also has to worry about offending the author of the original text with his final draft of the film.

Adaptation

I thought that adaptation was a good movie. I think it was a good move by the director to deviate from the original, boring text. I also thought he added an interesting aspect by giving the audience a perspective on going from the page to the screen. The ending was also unexpected and entertaining.
